(1)إِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ ٱنفَطَرَتۡ  

When the heaven is cleft asunder,  

(2) وَإِذَا ٱلۡكَوَاكِبُ ٱنتَثَرَتۡ  

When the planets are dispersed,  

(3) وَإِذَا ٱلۡبِحَارُ فُجِّرَتۡ  

When the seas are poured forth,  

(4) وَإِذَا ٱلۡقُبُورُ بُعۡثِرَتۡ  

And the sepulchres are overturned,  

(5) عَلِمَتۡ نَفۡسٌ۬ مَّا قَدَّمَتۡ وَأَخَّرَتۡ  

A soul will know what it hath sent before it and what left behind.  

(6) يَـٰٓأَيُّہَا ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ مَا غَرَّكَ بِرَبِّكَ ٱلۡڪَرِيمِ  

O man! What hath made thee careless concerning thy Lord, the Bountiful,  

(7) ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَكَ فَسَوَّٮٰكَ فَعَدَلَكَ  

Who created thee, then fashioned, then proportioned thee?  

(8) فِىٓ أَىِّ صُورَةٍ۬ مَّا شَآءَ رَكَّبَكَ  

Into whatsoever form He will, He casteth thee.  

(9) كَلَّا بَلۡ تُكَذِّبُونَ بِٱلدِّينِ  

Nay, but ye deny the Judgment.  

(10) وَإِنَّ عَلَيۡكُمۡ لَحَـٰفِظِينَ  

Lo! there are above you guardians,  

(11) كِرَامً۬ا كَـٰتِبِينَ  

Generous and recording,  

(12) يَعۡلَمُونَ مَا تَفۡعَلُونَ  

Who know all that ye do.  

(13) إِنَّ ٱلۡأَبۡرَارَ لَفِى نَعِيمٍ۬  

Lo! the righteous verily will be in delight.  

(14) وَإِنَّ ٱلۡفُجَّارَ لَفِى جَحِيمٍ۬  

And lo! the wicked verily will be in hell;  

(15) يَصۡلَوۡنَہَا يَوۡمَ ٱلدِّينِ  

They will burn therein on the Day of Judgment,  

(16) وَمَا هُمۡ عَنۡہَا بِغَآٮِٕبِينَ  

And will not be absent thence.  

(17) وَمَآ أَدۡرَٮٰكَ مَا يَوۡمُ ٱلدِّينِ  

Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Day of Judgment is!  

(18) ثُمَّ مَآ أَدۡرَٮٰكَ مَا يَوۡمُ ٱلدِّينِ  

Again, what will convey unto thee what the Day of Judgment is!  

(19) يَوۡمَ لَا تَمۡلِكُ نَفۡسٌ۬ لِّنَفۡسٍ۬ شَيۡـًٔ۬ا‌ۖ وَٱلۡأَمۡرُ يَوۡمَٮِٕذٍ۬ لِّلَّهِ  

A day on which no soul hath power at all for any other soul. The absolute command on that day is Allah's.
